welcome to the new site. it's been, like, a month and a half.

i was working on the old tech user's guide, and scope creep happened. it's a huge book now - and not only is it not even done yet, i've cut out a bunch of parts that i started writing, but later decided were overly repetitive or unnecessary, to save time and effort!

if you're interested in doing what i do - running modern OS on very not-modern PC - that guide contains or will contain virtually everything i know on the topic, within reason. it is also intended to be a living document, with new sections being added as i do more research or learn more about the topic, and as i have time to write out and publish that information. if you contact me, and tell me your own tips and tricks, i may include them in the guide as well!

still puzzling over how i want to handle the possible RSS feed for this blog. i'm not sure on that yet. i'll probably go look at how cathode ray dude did it on his website, gekk.info.

as i mention on the new guide, my thinkpad has sadly died in the interim. i am therefore dedicating the guide in its memory, as my struggles to get it working again (for the brief period that it was, anyway) taught me a great fraction of the information that now fills that guide. that leaves a 1024x768 hole in this site... and my heart. :( i will no longer be able to test the site on that spec and resolution due to lack of hardware. if you have such hardware handy, feel free to contact me with your results!
